Supporting Effective, Accountable Online Learning

Welcome to MVC's Distance Education Committee (DEC). As a subcommittee of the Academic Senate, the DEC advises the Senate and related Curriculum Committee on all matters related to distance education/online learning, and coordinates and provides distance education training for faculty and classified professionals.

Mission

With regard to distance education, our mission is to promote sound course design, professional development, DE student support, and delivery of credit courses to meet the educational needs of our students in proactive and accommodative ways. We also seek to ensure that distance education faculty are well-prepared to confidently develop and deliver high-quality, stimulating, and academically rich courses, providing students a challenging and edifying educational experience.

The Distance Education Committee follows the most recent Governance Committee Meeting Calendar. Unless otherwise noted, the committee meets on the second and fourth Tuesday from 12:50 - 1:50 pm during the fall and spring terms.
