The College Development and Engagement Committee (CDEC, see-deck) oversees student access, learning, services, success, and equity goals. CDEC is a chartered subcommittee of the College Council.

Purpose

The College Development and Engagement Committee's purpose is to:

  • Build capacity to guide, teach, and train campus constituents around how to engage in actions that explicitly address issues of equity, race, culture, identity, and other forms of social difference.
  • Increase training, professional learning, and dialogue amongst all constituents that includes both in-classroom and out-of-classroom experiences to holistically understand the student experience.
  • Oversee relevant accreditation areas, college plans, such as the Student Equity and Achievement Plan, and college-wide activities, such as Diversity Summits, scholarship breakfasts, and commencement activities.

CDEC membership is comprised of faculty, classified professionals, administrators and student representatives.

Voting members are appointed by their employee bargaining units, and are in addition to committee leadership.

Request Professional Development Funding

MVC encourages continuous learning to ensure that employees are prepared to meet the needs of students and the College now and in the future. To promote professional development and lifelong learning for all, the College's Professional Development Program is open to faculty, classified professionals, and managers seeking to offer professional development that aligns with college goals and the Student Equity Plan.

To request funding, submit the funding request form during an application window. The form will be inaccessible outside of these periods.

  • Spring 2026 Funding Applications Periods
    • Thursday, March 5 – Friday, March 20 (plan on attending the April 1 CDEC meeting to answer questions regarding your funding request)
    • Thursday, April 2 – Friday, May 1 (plan on attending the May 6 CDEC meeting to answer questions regarding your funding request)
  • Summer and Winter Intersessions: Funding requests are not available
  • Fall 2026: To be determined at the first Fall 2026 CDEC committee meeting
