We're Proud to Recognize Outstanding Student Employees

Student employees are an essential part of the Moreno Valley College community. Across campus, they help support programs and services, assist fellow students, and bring energy, professionalism, and care to their roles each day. Their work not only strengthens campus operations, but also helps them build skills and experiences that support their future goals.

We’re proud to spotlight a few of our outstanding student employees whose dedication, initiative, and positive impact have made a difference within their departments and throughout the MVC community during the 2025-26 academic year.

Melinda Sjoden has made an impact as the first Kinesiology student employee at Moreno Valley College, setting a high standard for support within the department. She consistently assists the Kinesiology faculty, contributing to a positive and organized learning environment. Melinda actively promotes student engagement and wellness initiatives through her work with the Sports and Fitness Club. Student Clerk, CalWORKs/Workforce Preparation Program

Elvira has been working in the CalWORKs program since September 2024. At the time Elvira joined us, we were short-staffed, so we were very lucky to be blessed with her gifts. Elvira jumped in to assist in every way that she could and more. She is always pleasant, friendly, helpful, professional, motivated to get the job done, and does not waste any time helping students. She speaks and assists with a calm, positive attitude, and willingness to assist the student from application to graduation! Personally, I could not have gotten through those days without the commitment and dedication from Elvira. I am grateful to her.

From the beginning, Elvira paid attention to details, she always noticed if an item was missing from a student file and remembers almost every student that walks into or calls the CalWORKs office! I would like to recognize Elvira not only today, but every day that she has worked in CalWORKs. We will surely miss Elvira when she graduates and moves on from Moreno Valley College, but we will always remember her contributions to CalWORKs. Congratulations on a job well done and we wish you ALL THE BEST. Thank you for everything Elvira
