UBMS accomplishes its mission by utilizing a multidimensional approach and by providing comprehensive services, including:

    • Lectures, presentations, workshops, hands on activities conducted by professionals, researchers, college professors and graduate and undergraduate students. Some of our partners include:

      • The iMakeMobile Bus
      • Gaming and Simulation
      • Physician Assistant and Nursing Programs
  • Field experiences to colleges/universities, laboratories, and professional facilities
    • UBSM will take project participates to various college campuses around Southern California in the following systems:
      • California State University
      • University of California
      • Private Colleges
    • The project will provide for students to explore and experience cultural enrichment events or actives.
      • Museums, Musicals, Workshops, Seminars, and Discussion Groups.
  • College/career awareness workshops
  • Academic advising
    • 6 times a year the Director and Outreach Specialist will meet with students to review academic progress, guide the student in secondary school course selection and ensure that project participants are on course to complete a rigorous curriculum and college eligibility requirements.
      • UC/CSU A-G Course Tracking each semester with student/family.
      • Performance on standardized tests, tutoring attendance, time management, college entrance requirements, long term academic and career goals and college course selection if applicable.
      • Completion of Individual Education Plan
  • Family engagement workshops
  • Assistance with completing college, financial aid, scholarship, and internship applications
  • Financial literacy workshops
  • Saturday Academy programs
    • 16 Saturdays throughout the academic year
      • Preparing students for CA and college entrance tests
      • Core Curriculum Enrichment
      • Exploration in STEM careers
      • Educational Development Workshops
      • Financial Literacy
  • Senior Summer Bridge
    • Seniors will take part in bi-weekly senior seminar classes
    • The Senior Bridge Retreat is a week-long activity that takes place in the summer immediately after seniors graduate from high school
  • Referrals to special research, leadership, and internship programs
  • College admission test preparation
  • Opportunities for concurrent enrollment
  • Opportunity to earn elective high school graduation credits
  • Access to fee waivers for college applications and admission tests
  • Six-week summer experience
    • Each summer MVC UBSM will conduct a 6-week summer program for all participants
      • Monday – Friday on campus at MVC
      • Each day will consists of a full day of the following instruction and enrichment activates
        • Composition & Literature, Mathematics, Science, Foreign Language and STEM Enrichment.
  • Academic tutoring on campus in P-4 at Vista Del Lago High School
    • Monday – Thursday, 3:30pm – 5:00pm
    • During Saturday Academies: TBA
