Attorney to Speak at MLK Scholarship Breakfast


Kim Papillon, Esq., an expert on decision making in law, education, business and medicine, will be the featured speaker at Moreno Valley College’s annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Breakfast.

An attorney, Papillon is a faculty member at National Judicial College. She is also a highly-sought after lecturer, covering implications of neuroscience, psychology and implicit association in the analysis of decision making. She also serves on the National Center for State Courts, National Training Team on Implicit Bias, a think tank for national judicial education. Papillon has received national recognition for her produced documentaries on neuroscience and judicial decision making. Her documentary on neuroscience and implicit association was the centerpiece of the American Bar Association’s implicit bias education program for the Litigation Section.

Papillon holds a B.A. degree from Berkeley and a J.D. from Columbia University School of Law. She has worked for large law firms, representing Fortune 500 companies, government entities and tech startups.

The breakfast, which is scheduled for January 13, 2017, will be held at the Moreno Valley Conference and Recreation Center (14075 Frederick St., Moreno Valley, CA 92553). Monies raised from the event benefit the College’s scholarship fund. At the event, the Riverside Community College District Foundation will award five scholarships, four to essay winners from Moreno Valley and Val Verde unified school districts and one winner of the College’s speech competition, covering Dr. King’s “Answering the Knock at Midnight.”

In addition to being the keynote speaker at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Breakfast, Papillon will speak at a MLK Student Leadership Summit at noon, which is open to high school and college students.
