More than 48 industry partners gathered at Moreno Valley College on Sept. 11 to strengthen apprenticeship and career education pathways during the Inland Empire HR Network and Business Meeting, a private event focused on workforce collaboration.

The meeting, organized in partnership with the Manufacturers’ Council of the Inland Empire (MCIE), featured presentations on regional workforce development, a networking breakfast, and a guided tour of MVC’s new Industrial Automation classroom. For many attendees, it was their first time on campus, offering an opportunity to expand education-industry connections.

President Rudy Besikof welcomed guests, thanking them for their support of apprenticeship students. The Manufacturers’ Council presented certificates of appreciation to Besikof, Dean of Instruction for Career and Technical Education, Eric Anthony, the Apprenticeship Director, Rosalinda Rivas, and HR representatives, recognizing their contributions to regional workforce engagement.

During the tour, partners previewed the equipment students will use to gain hands-on training in robotics, electrical systems, mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatic systems, and troubleshooting. Associate manufacturing faculty member Jennifer Palomares joined Klein Educational Systems presenters Maroun Nehme and Joe Ray to demonstrate how classroom training translates to industry skills.

“Meetings like this show the power of collaboration between education and employers,” said Rosalinda Rivas, MVC apprenticeship director. “When our partners see firsthand how students are preparing, it helps us shape programs that meet workforce demands and create opportunities for future apprentices.”

The Manufacturers’ Council noted it has helped secure more than $50 million in training and support funds for Inland Empire manufacturers over the past 25 years and continues to be a key partner in advancing workforce development and apprenticeship opportunities across the region.
