Dear Reader,
Hi and welcome to Disabled Students Services (DSS). DSS has been serving individuals with disabilities for over 45 years! In 1961, RCCD, nationally recognized for innovative practices in meeting the academic and career training needs of the community, became the first public post-secondary institution in the country to begin a program of support services specifically for students with disabilities. RCCD provided services to only twelve students with disabilities that first year. This year, we will serve approximately 2,000 ... quite an increase!
RCCD's Offices of Disabled Students Services offers comprehensive support services and accommodations thru its four offices on our three colleges. Additionally, the very latest in adaptive computer technology is available to our students.
We hope the information provided on these web pages will answer your questions regarding eligibility requirements, support services available, and how to access those services. Take your time... see what we have to offer. Then, if you or someone you know would be eligible for services we provide or if you have questions not answered on these pages, please email us, give us a call or better yet - drop by one of our offices, meet the staff, and take a tour. Meanwhile, check out our informative DSS video describing some of the services we offer. I'm sure you'll find it entertaining and informative.
