With each passing semester, students at Moreno Valley College are finding more and more exciting ways to enhance their college careers through the field of music. Whether you have a desire to be a professional musician, music therapist, music teacher, musicologist, or just a well-trained lover of music, Moreno Valley College can help you get where you need to be!

Do you want to transfer as a music major or minor? If so, you can complete many of the required courses right here. We currently have the largest Music course offerings in the history of Moreno Valley College, with two outstanding, highly qualified, full-time Associate Professors and an impressive group of part-time faculty to help you meet your educational and career goals.

To match our constantly expanding course offerings, we have added music scholarship auditions and awards; educational outreach programs; The Music Club, an official ASMVC student run group, which is open to all; and new opportunities for enriching programs based on student interest. Faculty

This section is dedicated to information about faculty presently teaching at MVC.

  • FacultyDonald T. Foster, Associate Professor of Music at Moreno Valley College, served as an Adjunct Professor of Music in the RCCD for 8 years before becoming full time at Moreno Valley College in 2005.

    In addition to his teaching the Music Appreciation, Music Fundamentals, and Film Music Appreciation courses, he serves as Faculty Co-Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee and is the co-advisor of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Straight Alliance (LGBTSA) at Moreno Valley.   • FacultyCarolyn L. Quin, Ph.D., is a musicologist who performs on piano and harpsichord and especially enjoys the chamber music repertoire. She is the co-author of William Grant Still: A Bio-Bibliography (Greenwood Press, 1996), the author of Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel: Her Contributions to Nineteenth-Century Musical Life (UMI, 1981).

    She has published encyclopedia articles, book reviews, and program notes on topics in music. She has presented numerous lectures and lecture/recitals both in the United States and abroad on the lives and compositions of William Grant Still and Fanny Hensel and on the music of African American and Women Composers. She has worked as a music critic, writing previews and reviews of orchestral and choral performances, and she has written encyclopedia articles, program notes, book reviews and research papers professionally.
